The Fall Of Troy Part 2
After a day of vicious battle, neither side can claim victory as many champions of renown have fallen this day. The bloodied adversaries retire to their respective camps, in shock and awe of their opponent's stamina. Rather than contemplate retreat however, the heroes decide 'tis better to attain glory even if through an honorable death than to have their names be remembered as cowards who retreated in shame. The fight for Troy has been long and hard and for the champions, it must be decided now. On the rising of the Sun the next day the armies once again go forth to do battle as the great Achilles faces the Amazon queen Penthesilea in mortal combat. In this segment of the tale we study the human side of these warriors, who express their inner feelings and possible doubts about the path they have chosen in life. The Aethiopian king Memnon contemplates a sensible retreat as his adversary cannot be broken, but a lone surviving Amazon and one of his own warriors remind him that while surely life will end, glory and honor attained this day will live on for all eternity if he would but choose his destiny. The battle continues as the fate of the champions and Troy will be determined at last.
